Well the holiday season has officially come and we at the farm are excited to say the least!
In the barn we have five new arrivals! Last week three of Dr. Angel’s (our large animal vet) award winning Jersey cows joined the herd. They will be with us for the foreseeable future. Last week we also welcomed Pepe and Tigger into the world! They are two beautiful Jersey/Lineback crosses. More specifically, they are a Jersey/Lineback crosses with the classic Gloucester color pattern. This breed, brought to the US in the 17th century, is fairly rare and we are excited that Pepe and Tigger are so healthy and happy. Our creamery staff continues to embrace the chaos of the holiday season. Each day for the past week, several hundred blocks of cheese have made their way from our cave to homes all across the US in time for cheese plates and presents. If you are looking for some Sprout Creek cheese to make a showing at your holiday party feel free to order online or call the creamery and they can make it happen!
We will also be holding our 18th annual winter solstice celebration at Sprout Creek Farm on Wednesday, December 21st from 5:30 to 7:00pm. For millennia, the winter solstice has been a time of renewal, reflection, and respite. Join us as for a bonfire and a meal as we stave off the cold of winter by welcoming the lengthening days and the promise of a new year. This event is free and open to the public.
