Support us (2:1 Challenge Match)

Sprout Creek Farm has received a very generous $50,000 2:1 challenge match. In order for us to receive this gift we need to raise $100,000 by December 31, 2015. Can you help us meet this goal?

IMPACT ON YOUTH. During the last school year, more than 2,500 students participated in day and overnight programs and more than 750 local and regional children toured Sprout Creek Farm (SCF). Of these, 618 students came from the Network of the Sacred Heart Schools. Five hundred seventy-three regional and local children were enrolled in week-long day and overnight summer programs. More than 500 local and regional children made unpaid visits to the farm. The majority of these were low-income students from inner-city public schools from New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and surrounding states.

DONOR IMPACT.  Due to the generosity of our donors, SCF was able to distribute approximately $19,102.00 to 42 students for summer service projects, $5,000 in scholarship funds to another 10 students and $28,000 in financial aid to 123 students. Indeed, our donors allow us to serve many students who would not otherwise be able to attend our programs and summer camps. Our policies are to ensure that any child can participate in Sprout Creek Farm programs, regardless of their ability to pay.

As well, we know that:

  • 100% of the students will gain knowledge regarding farming due to the nature of the experiential educational farming programs offered in relationship to the lived-farm experience.  Our teachers place special emphasis on fostering cooperation skills, offering real farm experiences, and giving young people the opportunity to learn by doing things themselves.
  • 100% of the youth will develop creativity and ingenuity by helping them discover the value and rewards of real work in a nurturing and supportive environment. Students develop self-confidence, a willingness to make mistakes. And a new understanding of responsibility and commitment.
  • 100% of our students will learn through the farm setting: how to work individually and as a team, environmentally-responsible ways of caring for animals, working the land, and living a simpler, more environmentally integrated way of life.
  • 100% of our students will learn our connectedness to our fragile earth, and thus develop a passion for protecting its integrity.
